  • Types of writing (go over different types of writing: business, scholarly, blogs, creative, etc.)
  • In class writing exercise (take a piece of writing and have each person translate it into a different type of writing – taking the content and rewriting it a different way, but keeping the “meaning”)

Comparison/Contrast exercise in class (Put up art on screen of Potato Eaters and Frida Kalo’s work & have them do a compare/contrast writing exercise, following “guided questions” that also ask about their diary entries – to both make sure they’ve read, but also help them prepare for the comparison/contrast paper without just answering questions)
