Response Assignment #2:

In response to Croce's “Discussing the Undiscussable”

Due October 20th (minimum 2 pages):

Write a 2 page reflection piece that either argues for or against Croce's use of the term “victim art," keeping the following questions/thoughts in mind:

  1. What does Croce mean when she uses the term “victim art”?

  2. What, according to Croce, is “victim art”?

  3. What sort of art, according to Croce, would fall under the category of “victim art”? (Whether implicitly or explicitly stated) USE EXAMPLES FROM TEXT

  4. How does Croce justify the use of the term “victim art”? as opposed to the use of some other term to describe this type/genre of art? (i.e. “issue-oriented art”)

  5. Who does Croce seem to suggest are the real victims of “victim art”?

  6. Do you agree or disagree with Croce's use of that term to describe this form of art? And why? YOU ARE NOT ARGUING FOR OR AGAINST HER ENTIRE ESSAY, JUST THE USE OF THIS PARTICULAR PHRASE TO DESCRIBE THIS TYPE/GENRE OF ART!!!!

Make sure that you quote Croce when referencing the text and use examples/quotes to support your conclusions!! Also, use proper MLA citations!

** Always, always back up your thoughts with some example, quote, or explanation.
