Weekly Response #3:

DUE NEXT WEEK (February 16th): Reflecting on your visit to the Gifts of New Orleans Music and Culture exhibit, as well as the readings of Feb. 9th discuss, in a 2-3 page journal entry, how the recent disaster in the New Orleans area may (or may not) have affected your response to this exhibition.

Consider the following questions:

• First, as best you can, describe your expectations before going to see the exhibition.

• Did knowing where you were going influence your objectivity or subjectivity before you walked into the exhibition?

• If, you believe that the recent disaster in New Orleans affected your response, explain how, what your response was (intellectually, emotionally, and aesthetically), and why, in your opinion, this response was different than it might have otherwise been.

• If you believe that the recent disaster in New Orleans did not affect your response, explain what your response to the exhibit was (intellectually, emotionally, and aesthetically), and why you believe that you were able to be objective in light of the recent tragedies in New Orleans.

* Although this is a journal entry and you do not have to cite your sources in parenthetical citations, you do still need to make reference to the readings, so please make sure that you mention either Croce and/or Winterson in your reflection.

** Always, always back up your thoughts with some example, quote, or explanation.
