"TERMINAL STREET" RAP SONG (Interpretation of Poem), written by Raheem Nuecke

Verse #1:

I never really meant ta leave or come back/
Outta fear I'd meet the me of my past/
On one of the paint-starved porches that we seemingly had/
Down the street I haven't seen since a lad/
Orderin' another shot, but not really into my liquor/
Cuz I'm goin' through all my memories and pictures/
Ta how I'd like ta take it back like a Indian-Giver/
Reminiscin' on them days cuz envy or miss ya/
Yeah the University was home to us physically/
But mentally we planned on ownin' our own identity/
Not knowin' specifically/
Where we're goin'; passin' joints along wit epiphanies/
That life was always waitin, and always we/
Someone was always stayin', and someone a always leave/
Plus a lot of substance abuse/
Up from all the drugs that we used/
In a rush to forget why we're come to this school/
Workin' just enough ta suck on some booze/
Just lovin' the rut that we choose/

CHORUS:

Just come and journey wit me/
As life takes a turn down Terminal Street/
I know your yearnin' ta see/
Cuz this street has a certain mystique, so/
Just come and journey wit me/
As life takes a turn down Terminal Street/

Verse #2:

We would take our furniture we salvaged and sit 'em outside/
A proclamation we ain't need nothin', had independence in mind/
Rememberin' the times/
But nothin' comes as cheap as memory's high/
Sendin' goodbyes/
To all my friends before they enter they rides/
Lookin' at the new continent the water on my ceilin' designed/
Feelin' I'm still in rewind/
At the bar noticin' the new fashion that is in/
And what's tatted on skin/
Don't need a cure for nostalgia; I threw half of it in the wind/
I came back so I can explain what happened to the man/
Of my past so he can ask me where I've been/
These college students now wouldn't believe I did the same things that they've done or do/
Back when I was young and in school/
But that's cool, have fun in yo youth/
While you're lookin' at me like I'm some old dude/
I'm shakin' my head, thinkin' ta myself that I once was you/

CHORUS:

Just come and journey wit me/
As life takes a turn down Terminal Street/
I know your yearnin' ta see/
Cuz this street has a certain mystique, so/
Just come and journey wit me/
As life takes a turn down Terminal Street/
